Meghan Markle popped up at a Girl Scout event in Ojai, California, on July 29, and honestly, her outfit had everyone talking.
She kept things low-key for the occasion, throwing on a brown knit sweater with short sleeves and a V-neck. It’s the kind of piece you’d think belongs in fall, not the middle of summer heat, but Meghan made it work somehow. She tossed on some oversized white shorts underneath, added gold jewelry for a little sparkle, and finished things off with black velvet slippers. Her hair went up into a high ponytail, and she kept her makeup simple except for a pop of pink on her lips.
The real reason she showed up? A special screening for Cookie Queens, a documentary she and Prince Harry helped produce through Archewell Productions. The event took place at Camp Arnaz, and director Alysa Nahmias was there too, chatting alongside Meghan about the project.
So what’s the documentary actually about? It follows four girls competing to become the top “Cookie Queen” during Girl Scout cookie season. Sounds simple, right? Except cookie season is apparently an $800 million business, which honestly kind of blew our minds a little. 🍪
We think it’s kind of sweet that Meghan picked something so personal to work on.
Turns out Meghan has actual history with Girl Scouts, since her own mom served as her troop leader growing up. Back in March, she talked about why the film meant so much to her, saying she felt a real connection to it because of that background. She praised Nahmias too, calling her creative style “edgy yet humanizing” and saying the whole thing captured something nostalgic but still modern about cookie season traditions.

After the screening wrapped up, Meghan hopped on her Instagram Stories and reposted a few pictures from the film’s official account. The post thanked everyone who came out to support the cast and crew, and reminded fans that Cookie Queens hits theaters on August 7.
