Even royals get nervous, and Queen Camilla’s first meeting with Prince William proves it.
According to a royal author, after Camilla first met William, she urgently needed a drink. Penny Junor, who wrote about Queen Camilla’s life, said that this happened when William was coming home from boarding school. Camilla thought about leaving so William wouldn’t feel awkward, but Charles told her that was silly and arranged for them to meet in London.
Charles and an already worried Camilla expected to see William at 7 p.m., but he arrived four hours earlier than planned. Taking charge, Charles decided they should just get on with it. After half an hour with William, Camilla declared she needed a gin and tonic.
Mark Bolland, a PR expert, told Junor that it was important for the public to know about Camilla’s relationship with William and Harry. This task wasn’t easy because it felt awkward at first. Bolland explained that it was tough; kids want their mum and not someone else taking up dad’s time. He mentioned that although Camilla never tried to be their mum, she was seen as the “other woman.”
Sometimes we think famous families don’t face the same problems we do.
Now, things are different between William and Camilla. They’ve become very close due to Kate Middleton’s and King Charles’s health issues. Royal expert Jennie Bond mentioned in March that recent events have strengthened their bond. While the King and Kate recover, William and Camilla have been working together more closely on royal duties 🤝
