King Charles has always had a complicated relationship with his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Since Princess Diana’s passing, and with Harry’s book revealing more secrets, their family matters have been under intense scrutiny. Interestingly, it’s believed that Queen Camilla has played a key role in easing the tension between Charles and Harry. Meanwhile, author Robert Jobson notes in his book that Camilla often keeps William grounded through subtle cues. Apparently, when Charles was still a prince, William sometimes acted too big for his fancy suits.
Jobson shares one story where William and Kate wanted to join Charles and Camilla’s convoy leaving Windsor Castle but made the older couple wait. Camilla suggested leaving without them as a gentle nudge to respect time.
“Camilla told Charles to move on without them when they took too long,” Jobson wrote. “By the time William and Catherine came out, they only saw the motorbikes’ blue lights fading away.”
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond says Camilla and William have become much closer recently.
“They’ve been managing royal duties while King Charles and Kate are recovering,” she shared with OK!. Spending more time together for official tasks has strengthened their bond.
