Once upon a time, Disney Channel fans were treated to an epic crossover with Hannah Montana and the Wizards of Waverly Place gang in Wizards On Deck With Hannah Montana.
But if you think back, you’ll notice Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez didn’t actually share any scenes. According to a cast member, some teenage drama involving Nick Jonas played out behind the scenes.
Jennifer Stone from Wizard of Waverly Pod spilled the beans about this “high school nonsense.” She said she could sense the tension right away because Miley and Selena both dated Nick Jonas at different times.
Miley dated Nick in 2006 but they broke up after a year. Then Selena started seeing him in 2008, with their relationship being on and off till 2010. This info comes from Entertainment Weekly. Miley even worked with the Jonas Brothers on a song called “Before the Storm,” and her hit “7 Things” was inspired by Nick.
People can be so dramatic sometimes, right?

“They’re cool now,” Jennifer said. “But back then, it was just silly high school stuff.”
In 2016, during an interview with W magazine, Selena shared that there wasn’t really any big fight between them. They just happened to like the same boy when they were teens—similar to how Hilary Duff and Lindsay Lohan had their own crush drama.
Nowadays, they’re closer than before. In 2020, Selena opened up about her bipolar disorder on Miley’s Instagram Live show Bright Minded.
“It was sweet because you sent me a butterfly emoji,” Miley mentioned about their reconnection through Instagram 🦋
Miley even went to Selena’s birthday party in 2022! They also released new music on August 25th in 2023—Selena’s “Single Soon” and Miley’s “Used to Be Young.”
Selena posted on Instagram about their singles dropping on the same day: “@mileycyrus and I both have a SINGLE SOON… We’ve been friends since we USED TO BE YOUNG.”
And Miley added on her Story: “@selenagomez and I are both dropping our SINGLEs SOON…..I SAY WE #USEDTOBEYOUNG.”
