Palace Insiders’ Nickname for Harry & Meghan

Meghan Markle and Harry may have stepped away from royal duties, but they’re still buzzworthy at the palace.

A royal author named Craig Brown in his new book A Voyage Around the Queen, releasing tomorrow, reveals that Meghan and Harry are given quite frosty nicknames by the royals. It’s reported by The Mirror that people in the palace rarely mention their real names; instead, they refer to them indirectly. David Albert Charles Armstrong-Jones shared in Brown’s book that the royal family has a knack for ignoring uncomfortable things.

Gyles Brandreth also mentioned to Brown that when Harry and Meghan come up in conversations at court, it’s not often. According to him, courtiers cringe slightly and switch topics or call them “persons who live overseas” if avoiding the subject isn’t an option.

When other royals get asked about the Sussexes, they just give a brief smile and say something like “We wish them all the best” without adding more.

Interestingly, back when Meghan and Harry were active royals, they had much warmer nicknames from their security team. As per Express reports, their code names were “DS” standing for Duke and Duchess of Sussex. They also went by David Stevens and Davina Scott. Similarly, William and Kate had secret names too: Daphne Clark and Danny Collins from Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Fans find it strange how people can be so cold sometimes ❄️
