King Charles: Diana’s Loss Caused Unbearable Emptiness

A letter from 1997 has given royal enthusiasts a peek into King Charles’s feelings of sorrow after Princess Diana’s death.

In the heartfelt message, Charles spoke about how empty and lost he felt months after Diana’s passing. He sent this note to Peter Houghton, and it was recently auctioned for $2,000.

Charles also tried to console his friend by sharing his own pain and saying his heart “bled” for him after losing “dear Liz,” someone he called a “life-enhancer.” He wished he could wave a magic wand to make things better, understanding the agony Houghton must be going through.

Fans sometimes feel so connected to the emotions of their idols.

The letter, written on Highgrove House paper and dated December 8th, showed Charles’s confusion about losing someone so young. It was penned just months after Diana’s tragic car accident on August 31 that year. She was only 36 when she died.

This insightful letter came with its original envelope marked “by hand” delivery. The seller stayed anonymous but chose to share this personal piece of history with the world.

Charles also revealed a bit about his faith in the note by quoting a Bible verse from 1 Corinthians 13:12. He expressed hopes of another dimension beyond our physical lives and believed we’d all marvel at it when our time comes.

A spokesperson at RR Auction in Boston mentioned that Charles’s long handwritten letter showed deep sympathy for Peter’s loss, especially since he himself had just been through such heartbreaking times losing Diana only a few months earlier. 💔
